Desktop Publishing (DTP)

Desktop Publishing (DTP) is an important step in providing one-stop solutions for translation and localization. Our DTP team has abundant experience in handling all desktop publishing of print materials, including marketing collateral, corporate and employee communications and technical documentations etc. The latest DTP tools we could use include Adobe FrameMaker, PageMaker, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, Quark Xpress, CorelDraw, and Microsoft Office Suite tools etc. Whatever the format the source file has been created in and if it is unavailable, our DTP team will be able to present documents in target languages of the same format.

DTP Workflow

Like  translation and localization processes, our DTP projects also have an optimized process, which includes the following steps:

Step 1: Project preparation and planning

Project manager checks source files to make sure that they are in good shape and all fonts and images are complete and correct, selects the best fonts for the target characters to match the source layout style and creates a sample PDF file to confirm the format details with clients, prepares DTP working environment and project instructions, ensuring that the software versions are compatible among clients, printing house and DTP team, makes a project schedule and sets up a team consisting of DTP specialists and proofreaders.

Step 2: Project Implementation

DTP specialists begin the DTP process with the corresponding software and DTP proofreaders double check all details according to the project instructions and our internal standards. DTP specialists make changes based on the proofreading comments.

Step 3: Project Delivery

After DTP proofreader carries out the final check to make sure all the requirements have been executed correctly, Project Manager delivers the final DTP files to clients using the designated method.

Step 4: Project Summary

During this phase, project manager will study client’s feedback and performs a project summary among team members, work out feasible solutions to improve service quality with the whole team and evaluate team members’ performance and submits quality report.
